“The failure to win customers and retain them is the single
greatest business killer.”
--Paul R. Timm, Ph.D, author of 50 Powerful Ways to Win New Customers
-Dr.
Timm states that “80 percent of business failures arise from simply not having
enough customers. Either the
company fails to attract a sufficient customer base or it lets existing
customers slip away. “
The need to attract and
keep customers becomes even more critical in slow economic times.
It is the purpose of this workshop to introduce you to new ideas to help
you increase your customer base and even more important—to help you keep
customers motivated to continue to do business with you.
Dr. Timm also says in his
book, that your success in winning and retaining customers will depend upon only
four things:
1.
Awareness of the techniques available.
2.
Willingness to try some new ideas.
3.
Attention to the “little things.”
4.
Consistent application.
As you study the ideas
presented in this workshop keep these 4 things in mind.
Let yourself learn a new technique, be willing to try the new idea, allow
yourself with the help of your staff to develop the promotion plan fully, and
finally be consistent in the application of the promotion you have selected.
The promotions selected for
discussion in this workshop come from various sources which include discussions
with other resalers as well as my own inventions. My intention in this workshop is to present promotions that
are the most effective and the easiest to do.
Promoting your shop through advertising on TV, radio, the print media or
direct mail is not covered in this workshop but, never the less, are very
important subjects in the over-all promotion of your store.
Not every promotion
presented today is right for you or your situation. Pick and choose the ones that cause excitement and get your
creative juices flowing. Chances
are you will come up with a few good ideas that will turn one of these
promotions into a truly unique experience just for your store! And, don’t forget to have fun!!
